Description
Primer-207 - Pigmented, Solvent-Based Primer for Various Substrates
Sika Primer-207 is a solvent-based black primer that reacts with moisture and forms a thin layer. This layer acts as a link between substrates and adhesives.
Sika Primer-207 is specifically formulated for the treatment of bond faces prior to the application of Sikas 1-component polyurethanes. This primer might provide excellent adhesion without a previous activation step on many substrates. Sika Primer-207 fluoresces under long-wave UV light for a limited period of time. This feature is used for in-process control.
Usage:
Sika Primer-207 is used to improve adhesion on a very broad range of different substrates, such as float glass, ceramic-coated glass, plastics, pre-coatings, painted surfaces, E-coats, and metals.
Seek the manufacturers advice and perform tests on original substrates before using Sika Primer-207 on materials prone to stress cracking.
This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.
Application:
Shake the Sika Primer-207 can very thoroughly until the mixing balls rattle freely. Continue shaking for another minute and apply a thin but covering coat with a brush, felt, or foam applicator.
Ideal application and surface temperatures are between 15 C and 25 C.
Sika Primer-207 has to be applied only once. Care must be taken to ensure that this single application gives adequately dense coverage. Consumption and method of application depend on the specific nature of the substrates. Tightly reseal the container immediately after each use.
Features:
- Enhanced adhesion on a wide variety of substrates
- Visible under UV light
- Easy to use
Sika Primer-207 is a versatile, solvent-based black primer designed to enhance adhesion across various substrates including glass, ceramics, plastics, painted surfaces, and metals. Its unique chemical formulation reacts with moisture in the environment, creating a thin, durable layer that acts as an effective intermediary between substrates and adhesives. This process ensures strong, reliable bonds, especially when used prior to applying Sika's 1-component polyurethanes. The primer's ability to bond effectively without additional surface activation simplifies application and reduces preparation time, making it an optimal choice for professional applications. Additionally, Sika Primer-207 fluoresces under long-wave UV light, providing a useful in-process quality control feature to verify coverage and proper application. Proper surface preparation and prior testing are recommended to maximize adhesion, particularly on materials prone to stress cracking. It is critical that users follow manufacturer guidelines and conduct tests on original substrates to ensure compatibility and performance. The primer is easy to apply with brushes, felt, or foam applicators, and it should be applied in a single, uniform coat for best results. Maintaining ideal surface temperatures between 15°C and 25°C during application ensures optimal adhesion and curing. The product comes in an easy-to-use container that should be resealed immediately after use to prevent drying or contamination. Sika Primer-207's broad substrate compatibility and UV fluorescence make it a valuable tool for professionals seeking reliable bonding solutions in demanding environments.
Features:
- Enhanced adhesion on a wide variety of substrates
- Visible under UV light for quality control
- Easy to apply with brush, felt, or foam applicator
