Description
Sikaflex-292 - White - 10oz Tube with Nozzle
Sikaflex-292 is a non-sag 1-component polyurethane adhesive of thixotropic, paste-like consistency that cures on exposure to atmospheric moisture. It exhibits excellent adhesive properties and good mechanical strength.
Features:
- Good gap-filling properties
- Can be painted
- Bonds well to a wide variety of substrates
- Wheelmark approved
- Solvent-free and very low VOC
Areas of Application:
Sikaflex-292 is suitable for structural joints in marine constructions which will be subjected to high dynamic stresses. It is suitable to bond metals, particularly aluminum (including anodized finishes), metal primers and paint coatings (2-component systems),
ceramic materials, plastics such as GRP (unsaturated polyester resin), ABS, etc. Seek the manufacturers advice and perform tests on original substrates before using Sikaflex-292 on materials prone to stress cracking. This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed ensuring adhesion and material compatibility.
Surface Preparation:
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and dust. Surface treatment dependson the specific nature of the substrates and is crucial for a long-lasting bond. Suggestions for surface preparation may be found on the current edition of the appropriate Sika Pre-treatment Chart.
Consider that these suggestions are based on experience and have in any case to be
verified by tests on original substrates.
Application:
Sikaflex-292 can be processed between 10 C and 40 C (climate and product) but
changes in reactivity and application properties have to be considered. The optimum temperature for substrate and sealant is between 15 C and 25 C. Consider that the viscosity will increase at low temperatures. For easy application, condition the adhesive at ambient temperature prior to use.
Tooling Finishing
Tooling and finishing must be carried out within the skin time of the sealant. It is recommended to use Sika Tooling Agent N. Other finishing agents must be tested for suitability and compatibility prior to the use.
Removal
Uncured Sikaflex-292 can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin have to be washed immediately using Sika Cleaner-350H cleaning towels or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on the skin.
Note: The domestically produced Sikaflex-292 is not IMO certified
The Sika Sikaflex-292 is a high-performance, non-sag polyurethane adhesive designed for demanding marine and structural applications. This 10-ounce tube features a nozzle for precise application and is ideal for bonding a wide variety of substrates including metals, plastics, and ceramics. Its thixotropic, paste-like consistency ensures ease of use and effective gap filling, making it suitable for complex joint configurations where a strong, durable bond is required.
Sikaflex-292 cures upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, forming a flexible and mechanically robust seal that withstands high dynamic stresses typical in marine environments. It is compatible with anodized aluminum, metal primers, and paint coatings, and can be painted over once cured. This product’s excellent adhesion properties, combined with its solvent-free and low VOC formulation, make it an environmentally friendly choice for professional users seeking reliable, long-lasting bonds.
Proper surface preparation is critical for optimal adhesion; surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and dust. The adhesive can be processed within a temperature range of 10°C to 40°C, with ideal conditions between 15°C and 25°C. For easier application, it is recommended to condition the sealant at ambient temperature prior to use. Tooling and finishing should be performed within the skin time of the sealant, preferably using Sika Tooling Agent N, to achieve a professional finish. Once cured, removal requires mechanical methods, as uncured Sikaflex-292 can be cleaned from tools with Sika Remover-208 or similar solvents.
This product is Wheelmark approved, ensuring compliance with marine standards, but is not IMO certified. It is intended for experienced professionals who understand substrate compatibility and proper application techniques. Always perform adhesion tests on original substrates to verify suitability and long-term performance, especially when bonding materials prone to stress cracking or exposure to dynamic loads.
Features:
- Good gap-filling properties for complex joints
- Can be painted after curing for a finished appearance
- Bonds well to metals, plastics, ceramics, and coated substrates
- Wheelmark approved for marine applications
- Solvent-free with very low VOC emissions for environmentally conscious use
