Description
GPS160 TriNav Sensor with NMEA 0183 Output
The GPS160, a high performance positioning sensor using GPS, Galileo and Glonass satellite systems for exceptional positioning accuracies and redundancies.
TriNav technology allows all three systems to be simultaneously utilized for navigation. The device can also be field programmed for a variety of modes such as single GNSS operation (eg Galileo only) as well as output configurations such as update rate, NMEA sentence structure etc
The GPS160 is available with a NMEA 0183 output (4800, 38400 and 115200 baud programmable) and a USB variant for PC, MAC and Linux. For NMEA 2000 systems, a bundle is available with iKonvert allowing easy and flexible NMEA 2000 installation without the need for cumbersome drop cables.
The GPS160 also support an external MOB switch or device. When activated, it creates a synthesized AIS SART MOB message on the NMEA output which can be interfaced with a local plotter for MOB identification.
The GPS160 supports GPS, Glonass and Galileo positioning. Our TriNav technology is used to combine signals from all three systems to compute the best possible fix accuracy and reliability.
Galileo is the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) that has been developed over the past two decades. It joins the GPS and GLONASS systems and offers mariners a 3rd reliable positioning source. It is planned to be fully operational in 2020.

The Digital Yacht GPS160 TriNav Sensor with NMEA 0183 Output delivers high-precision positioning for marine and navigation applications by integrating GPS, Glonass, and Galileo satellite systems. Its advanced TriNav technology allows simultaneous utilization of all three GNSS sources, providing mariners with enhanced accuracy, redundancy, and reliability for critical navigation tasks. The device is designed to be versatile, supporting multiple output configurations such as NMEA 0183 and USB, with user-selectable baud rates to ensure seamless integration with various systems. It also offers flexible output formats and update rates, including up to 18Hz, making it suitable for both professional and recreational marine environments. The GPS160's sophisticated anti-spoofing algorithms further ensure robust positioning performance even in interference-prone settings. The device can be configured as a dedicated GPS, Glonass, or Galileo receiver, offering tailored performance based on user needs. An external MOB switch input allows for quick activation of MOB positioning data, which is then converted into synthetic AIS MOB messages compatible with most plotters, enhancing safety during emergencies.
Designed for easy installation, the GPS160 fits industry-standard mounts and supports field programming via internal DIP switches, allowing customization of output formats and data rates. Its ultra-low power consumption makes it suitable for extended use on vessels powered by 12V DC systems. Compatibility with NMEA 2000 systems via the iKonvert interface and optional wireless connectivity with the WLN10SM expands its versatility in modern marine setups. The GPS160's comprehensive feature set makes it an ideal choice for professional navigation systems, ECDIS support, and advanced vessel tracking solutions, ensuring precise and reliable positioning in diverse maritime conditions.
