- Documentation
1Requires a compatible Garmin chartplotter (sold separately)
2Not recommended for fishing or applications that require holding heading while trolling at low speeds or operating in rough waters. For applications that require precise heading control, our higher-performance Reactor 40 models are recommended. Compact Reactor uses a gear pump design with limited performance relative to similar flow piston pumps. Not recommended for power assist installs, engines above 150 horsepower or boats with more than 12-degree deadrises. Mount pump within 6 of the steering cylinder for best results.
3 Auto Guidance is for planning purposes only and does not replace safe navigation operations
The Garmin Compact Reactor 40 hydraulic autopilot is designed to bring confidence and ease to boaters operating vessels less than 25 feet in length. This autopilot system offers precise course-keeping capabilities, reacting adaptively to sea conditions such as pitching and rolling, ensuring a steady navigation experience even in challenging waters. Its compatibility with hydraulically steered systems makes it an ideal choice for powerboats seeking reliable autopilot assistance without extensive setup. The system is equipped with a solid-state 9-axis AHRS, allowing flexible mounting options in any orientation, which simplifies installation and reduces power consumption while maintaining accurate heading data. This advanced sensor technology ensures consistent performance, minimizing heading errors and providing smooth, reliable autopilot functions. When paired with compatible Garmin chartplotters, users can control the autopilot remotely, offering convenience during navigation. The optional GHC 50 autopilot instrument enhances the user interface with a dedicated touchscreen display that shares data seamlessly with other Garmin devices, enriching the overall navigation experience. The system supports wireless remote control via Garmin devices, including compatible smartwatches, enabling you to manage your autopilot from anywhere on your boat. Shadow Drive technology adds another layer of control by automatically disengaging the autopilot when you turn the wheel, providing more manual maneuvering freedom. This corepack is ideal for recreational powerboats, offering essential features like heading hold, step turns, and wind-based sailing functions when used with a compatible wind sensor (sold separately). The package includes all necessary components for installation, including the Course Computer Unit, pump, ECU, interconnect cables, and NMEA 2000 connectivity hardware.
